"Power...I wrote about power...Power to stand...Power to endure...Power to avenge." -- HE IN ME

A writer’s peaceful world is shattered when a crazed neighbor moves into the apartment directly below him and his wife. Their perfect marriage deteriorates as the noise from Apt 102 invades every corner of their shelter, forcing the civilized intellectual upstairs to defend his modest 2-bedroom kingdom against the witless barbarism of his adversary downstairs---a character who embodies everything our protagonist loathes and fears.

The moral confrontation is underscored by the writer’s obsession over his unfinished allegory of power, evil and self-actualization. Inspired by the escalating crisis in his personal life, his secret, unborn “child” assumes a voice of its own. As creation and creator dialogue together, a sinister force overtakes our hero, conforming him into the image of his arch nemesis, and propelling both inner and outer stories to a devastating climax.

Heady, hilarious, terrifying: this tale of madness and revenge pushes artistic license to the extreme.

  • "Ted Gargiulo Jr. of Seaside is a fine writer, using an economy of well chosen words to bring the reader along with the suspense and anticipation of each new chapter... The denouement is startling."

"You are not a reasonable man, not anymore!"

...He In Me, Chapter 7

"He piled upon the whale's white hump the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down; and then, as if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his hot heart's shell upon it."

Herman Melville,
Moby Dick

"I have often dreamt that something extreme or catastrophic might one day overtake the oppressive government that has kept my creative mind in submission all these years. I imagine a sudden conflagration, a brush fire surrounding the cerebral tabernacle. All the sentries guarding the creative process are ablaze, shrieking, running for shelter, finding none. The opposition has been purged. The last veil has been rent. My mind has been emancipated!

He In Me is the product of such a conflagration. It is the dream-nightmare come true. As such, it represents the full loaf of my imagination. It is my ultimate 'journey'

Although I have drawn freely from my personal life when it suited my purposes,
He In Me is strictly a work of fiction. It is a mind thriller, a social satire, a domestic 'Moby Dick'.

In the final analysis,
He In Me is a story about a story"
